Sometimes, older roofs hide surprises underneath.  Many older homes were originally built with cedar shake instead of asphalt shingles.  As time went on, this shake was often covered by asphalt shingles. With the asphalt shingles in place, it is very hard to tell what is underneath without removing shingles, or viewing the roof from underneath (from an attic or crawl space). But, when it’s time for a new roof, most often the cedar must be completely removed and decking put in before new asphalt shingles are installed.

When Colleen’s 25-year old roof needed replacement, she found that it had cedar shake underneath. Take a minute to hear Colleen describe, in her own words, why she needed a new roof, and why she chose Allstate Roofing & More, LLC.
